A strategic aerial response, in under an hour, anywhere in the territory.
A strategic aerial response capable of reaching any point in the territory in under an hour to fight fires before they become uncontrollable.
AeroShield‑Fire is a private Spanish company developing a first‑of‑its‑kind concept for aerial firefighting against forest fires and megafires.
With a fleet of 8 water‑bomber aircraft, each with a capacity of 40,000 liters, AeroShield‑Fire is able to deploy up to 320,000 liters of water on an intervention zone in under an hour, providing an exceptional aerial strike capability from the earliest stages of a fire.
Boeing 757‑200 Air Tanker Conversion
AeroShield‑Fire is developing a conversion program for the Boeing 757‑200 into a next‑generation water‑bomber aircraft, designed to respond to forest fires and megafires.
The passenger cabin is fully reconfigured to integrate a 40,000‑liter tank, paired with a high‑capacity drop system installed beneath the fuselage. This architecture enables the rapid delivery of large volumes of water or retardant with high precision, while preserving the well‑established performance and reliability of the Boeing 757.
This solution offers a significantly greater intervention capability than conventional aerial resources and represents a new tool to strengthen large‑scale firefighting efforts.
Murcia–San Javier Airport
AeroShield‑Fire has chosen Murcia–San Javier Airport as the operational base for its fleet of water‑bomber aircraft. Ideally located on the Mediterranean coast, this airport provides rapid access to all of Spain as well as the main countries of Southern Europe, enabling intervention in a reduced timeframe in the areas most exposed to fires.
In order to anticipate the consequences of global warming and the growing pressure on freshwater resources, AeroShield‑Fire is developing an innovative supply strategy. A seawater pumping station, equipped with a mechanical filtration system, will be installed in close proximity to the base. This installation’s sole function will be to remove debris, algae, sand, and other matter liable to damage the filling equipment or the aircraft’s onboard systems. Seawater will be used directly, with no desalination process.
This approach combines operational responsiveness, environmental innovation, and logistical autonomy. By drawing on an abundant and inexhaustible natural resource, AeroShield‑Fire ensures maximum availability of its fleet while preserving the freshwater reserves of the protected territories.
Murcia–San Javier is not just an air base; it is the starting point for a new generation of aerial firefighting, designed to sustainably meet the climate challenges of tomorrow.
A new generation of aerial firefighting
AeroShield‑Fire is a private Spanish company specializing in aerial firefighting against forest fires and megafires. Its mission is to strengthen state intervention capabilities through a fleet of very high‑capacity water‑bomber aircraft, able to act quickly across Southern Europe.
From its strategic base at Murcia–San Javier, AeroShield‑Fire aims to support operations in Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece, regions particularly exposed to climate‑change‑related fires.
The fleet will initially consist of 8 Boeing 757‑200 aircraft converted into 40,000‑liter water bombers, with a progressive scale‑up to 10–12 aircraft by 2030, depending on operational needs and partnerships established.
The choice of the Boeing 757‑200 is based on a pragmatic approach. This aircraft offers the ideal compromise between range, payload capacity, and entry‑into‑service cost. Converting existing aircraft makes it possible to quickly field a high‑performance fleet, while significantly reducing the timelines and investment required compared to developing a new water‑bomber aircraft from scratch.
AeroShield‑Fire will operate in close coordination with national authorities and firefighting services. Aerial operations will be conducted to complement existing resources, according to priorities set by command centers and the relevant authorities.
Optimize mission preparation
AeroShield‑Fire will rely on a decision‑support system combining artificial intelligence, satellite imagery, weather data, and information transmitted by emergency services.
Depending on needs, an aerial reconnaissance team may be deployed aboard a light aircraft to confirm the situation on the ground, record the GPS coordinates of priority areas, and transmit this information in real time to the command post. This organization will make it possible to plan interventions that are fast, precise, and coordinated with all stakeholders engaged on the ground.
This strategy makes AeroShield‑Fire a fast, coordinated, and immediately deployable solution, designed to strengthen European firefighting capabilities while working in close partnership with public authorities.
Every year, the same tragedy repeats itself: forests burn, lives are lost, and thousands of homes are reduced to ashes.
It is time to stop enduring this. AeroShield‑Fire offers a new approach to prevent, contain, and combat fires and megafires with a fast, large‑scale aerial intervention capability.
